After checking out of my Hakone ryokan, I made my way over to see Mount Fuji closer up by taking the bus from Gotemba Station to Mount Fuji Station. I stored my backpack in the locker and headed toward Kawaguchiko Station, where I walked around the neighborhood to enjoy the view of Mount Fuji. The overcast day caused the mountain to not have a strong contrast against the sky in the photos but I still felt thankful to be able to see it, as there have been reports from other travelers who weren’t able to even view it, due to more clouds or the rain. Oishi Park was a beautiful area to see the mountain against the natural landscape. My final stop before heading toward Tokyo was the Fujiyoshida Honcho Street for a popular view of Mt. Fuji towering over a narrow shopping district. It was interesting to view the signs that warn you about the dangers of taking photos in the middle of the road, which I happily obliged!
